Services
The
Exceptional Children Services provides support services, professional
development programs, assistive technology, and a lending library
to substitute teachers, paraprofessionals, teachers, administrators,
schools and school districts.
Support
Services
ECS
provides a variety of services that include presentations of nationally
known programs, safe school programs, and programs designed by
the staff on researched-based practices. This assistance can be
provided for teachers, school faculties, and district groups in
a variety of formats. The ECS staff is available to do environmental
consultations, classroom observations, student observations, mentoring
teachers, and model teaching.
Lending
Library
ECS
houses a lending library that contains a variety of resources
including assistive technology, books, journals, audio tapes,
video tapes, and software on instruction, curriculum, behavior,
discipline, safe schools, special education procedures and issues,
classroom management, complex needs, and transition.
Professional
Development Programs
The
ECS staff is available to facilitate programs as part of a school's
professional development in the areas of behavior, and school
safety, complex needs, instruction and curriculum, transition,
literacy, assistive technology, and special education procedural
issues. Our staff not only provides training, but also seeks other
presentations from outside sources that can be made available
to our school districts.
We
encourage schools and districts to work with our staff on identifying
and tailoring professional development to meet the individual
needs of paraprofessionals, teachers, administrators, school staff,
and district staff within the OVEC districts. Professional development
can be accessed through faculty meetings, staff/school retreats,
individual teacher planning periods, study groups, "Lunch
and Learn," and breakfast groups. The staff is very open
to designing alternative opportunities for any situation.
