Nemours Cardiac Center Cardiopulmonary Assessment
Dr. Franklin with patient

Can your child play soccer, swim, ride a bike, or a horse? Can he run and play ball with friends? After surgery, you want to know to what extent your child can participate in physical exercise.

Through a cardiopulmonary assessment, we can measure, in a controlled setting, the impact of physical exertion or exercise on your child, providing objective information related to your child's exercise tolerance.

Nonsurgical patients can benefit from a cardiopulmonary assessment as well. We can help determine why your child experiences chest pain with exercise, shortness of breath, lack of energy, or fainting with exercise. Additionally, obese children or those with other chronic diseases who need to develop a supervised exercise routine, will benefit by participating in our program.
