Chigger

What a Chigger Is
Chiggers are tiny (smaller than a period) and red, and they are a type of mite. Mites aren't insects - they are arachnids and part of the same family as spiders, scorpions, and ticks. Chiggers are found all over the world in lots of places, including on land, in the water, and on many creatures - even other bugs!

Chiggers have strong claws that allow them to attach tightly onto people and animals. They have a special digestive juice that they use to help them suck blood.
